The Lunch Box
The Lunch Box 2014
Released : 20 September 2013
Genre : Drama
Summary:
Saajan is a lonely accountant about to retire from his job. Ila is a young wife seeking her husband's attention, looking for ways to put romance back in her marriage, and tries to cook her way to her husband's heart. A neighbour who lives in the apartment above her gives her advice on cooking and marriage through shouted instructions. Through a rare mixup of the famous "dabbawalas" (a complicated system that picks up and delivers lunches from restaurants or homes to men at work) of Mumbai, the lunchbox with the delicious food Ila prepared for her husband instead gets delivered to widower Saajan. When the lunch containers are delivered back to Ila empty, she is happy, thinking her husband had enjoyed her cooking. When she questioned him, he did not seem to think much of it. Realizing the mistake of the delivery, she writes a note to the recipient of her lunch thanking him for enjoying the food and sends him her husband's favorite meal the following day.
Saajan replies saying that the food was salty. Upon advice from her neighbour, who believes the lunch went to Ila's husband, she responds by using hot chili in a lunch that turns out to be so spicy that Saajan resorts to eating bananas to help cool off his mouth. An exchange of the messages sent back and forth with the lunches ignites a friendship between Saajan and Ila who share memories and thoughts in notes passed back and forth in the lunch pails. Meanwhile Saajan deals with a young employee, Shaikh, he is supposed to train to replace him when he retires. Shaikh appears immature, annoying, lazy and irresponsible. On her end, Ila feels her husband is very remote. He not only complains about her food (which is delivered to him from the restaurant Saajan has ordered his lunches from), but she finds out he is having an affair. Also she supports her mother as her father suffers from lung cancer.
As Saajan and Shaikh get to know each other, Shaikh reveals that he is an orphan and has worked in several places, including Saudi Arabia. He is currently living with his girlfriend. As he rides the train home each day after work, he chops vegetables for their dinner on his portfolio. As Saajan trains Shaikh, he has told him what to do and left him on his own, but Shaikh had bluffed his way into the job and many mistakes come to the attention of the boss who calls both of them into his office, puzzled that, after decades of service with never a mistake, so much had gone wrong. He chastises Saajan but tells Shaikh to leave. Saajan takes the blame for all that has gone wrong and saves Shaikh's job. This act moves Saajan and Shaikh to have a true friendship prompting Shaikh to invite Saajan to dinner at his home with his girlfriend and asking him to be his best man in his wedding, since he has no one else to stand up for him and no family.
In their correspondence through the lunch containers, Ila mentions that Bhutan is a poor but happy and beautiful place where the cost of living is much less than India. Saajan contemplates moving there with her upon his retirement and writes back asking if she will be ready to move to Bhutan with him. Ila writes back saying they should meet and suggests a popular food joint. She is there at the appointed time but Saajan doesn't turn up. A dejected Ila sends an empty lunchbox the next day. Saajan writes to her saying that he did arrive, but did not meet her because he saw how young and beautiful she is and considered himself too old for her and advises her to move on.
Ila's father dies and as his body is taken away, Ila's mother confesses to her that she has been unhappy for most of her marriage. This helps Ila to feel released. She decides to search for Saajan by asking the address where the dabbawalas sent her food and goes to Saajan's office to meet him, but there she learns that he has retired and headed to Nashik. Ila writes a last message saying farewell to Saajan announcing that she will leave her husband and go to Bhutan.
The movie comes to an end with Saajan returning from Nashik and going in search of Ila with the Dabbawalas song being played in the background.

SUMMARY:
The movie starts on a stormy night in Kerala. A large tree branch falls and breaks the roof of an out-house, releasing a dark entity. A woman inspects the out-house and ends up in a hospital in coma.
In another town her daughter Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) and her husband Kabir (Karan Singh Grover) argue about not being able to spend her birthday together. Sanjana gets a call about her mother's accident and they quickly fly to Kerala. In Kerala, Sanjana begins having paranormal visions that make her believe that her dead conjoined twin's soul is after her. Her husband does not believe her and sends her to his former Professor for spiritual healing.
During the healing sessions she tells the Professor about how her conjoined twin Anjana (Bipasha Basu) always disliked that Kabir liked Sanjana more than her. In fact it was when Kabir told Sanjana that he was coming back home from abroad that Sanjana decided to separate from Anjana. It was during this operation that Anjana died, and Sanjana blames herself for her sister's death. The Professor reassures her that when she sees Anjana in her visions it is the result of her guilt and only a figment of her subconscious.
Back at her mother's place, while getting water at night Sanjana is abducted into the out-house by an unseen entity. Hearing noises Kabir wakes up and finds her unconscious in the out-house. We later learn that Sanjana is now possessed by Anjana's soul.
After this, Sanjana/Anjana can't seem to get enough of Kabir. When the professor meets her again he feels there is something wrong and tells Kabir to keep an eye on her, which she overhears.
The care-taker suggests for them to have a ritual performed after her daughter-in-law sees Sanjana/Anjana messing with the dog. After the ritual Anjana's stronghold escalades and her true colours are shown, resulting in an exorcist being called in.
During the exorcism Anjana reveals that she was actually murdered and urges Kabir to find the truth as she leaves Sanjana's body. After Sanjana wakes up, Kabir threatens to leave her, then Sanjana tells him about years ago when he called her to tell her that he was coming home, Anjana lost her mind and tried to kill her because she too had feelings for Kabir. In self-defence Sanjana hit Anjana on the head with Anjana's glass music box, killing her accidentally. Their mother covered the murder to protect her daughter. After consulting with Professor they try to find and burn the last remaining thing of Anjana that will set her soul free.
Sanjana, Kabir, the care-taker and her daughter-in-law all go into the out-house following music. There under the floor they find the dead body of Anjana. The Care-taker and her daughter-in-law go inside to get kerosene to burn the body but end up dead. Then the Professor arrives at the out-house with kerosene, but is actually possessed by Anjana and attacks Sanjana. While Kabir fights him, he finds the locket he gave to Sanjana when they were both young, on what is supposed to be Anjana's dead body. When he confronts Sanjana about it, she finally confesses that she is actually Anjana and she was the one who killed Sanjana with the music box and took her sister's place so she could be with Kabir. Outraged, Kabir decides to leave her despite of her trying to convince him that she loves him, so she hits him on the head with a chair while trying to stop him, but Sanjana's soul stops Anjana while the burning roof falls on Anjana, saving Kabir and the Professor.

PK
PK 2014
Summary:
An alien, PK (Aamir Khan), lands on Earth on a research mission in Rajasthan but is stranded when the remote to his spaceship is stolen. PK, not knowing Earth customs, learns to fit in among humans by wearing clothes and using money that he steals from couples having sex in cars. He attempts to learn to communicate by grabbing the villagers' hands and absorbing their memories through touch, but they chase him away when he tries. Bhairon Singh (Sanjay Dutt) strikes him with his car and takes him to a doctor who declares PK is a person suffering amnesia. Bhairon befriends him and, interpreting the alien's hand-grabbing as sexual interest, takes him to a brothel. There, the alien holds a prostitute's hand for six hours and thus learns the Bhojpuri language.
The alien travels to Delhi in search of his stolen remote. Due to his strange behaviour, the people in the city assume he is tipsy (tipsy translates to pee-kay in Hindi) and call him PK. Delhi turns out to be a very large city, and people tell him that only God can help him find his remote. PK tries to find God, but is confused by India's various religions and their confusing traditions. He later discovers that a godman, Tapasvi Maharaj (Saurabh Shukla), has his remote. However, Tapasvi falsely claims to have attained the object from God in the Himalayas and refuses to return it to PK. Bewildered, PK concludes that Tapasvi and other religious heads must be calling a "wrong number" to God and, as a result, spreading misunderstandings and meaningless rituals.
Meanwhile in Bruges, television reporter Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) falls in love with a man named Sarfaraz (Sushant Singh Rajput). Jaggu's father (Parikshit Sahni) objects to their relationship because Sarfaraz is a Muslim from Pakistan; he consults Tapasvi who predicts that Sarfaraz will betray Jaggu. Determined to prove them wrong, Jaggu proposes to Sarfaraz. She is heart-broken at the wedding chapel when she receives a letter calling off the marriage due to their differences. She returns to India where she is intrigued while watching PK distributing leaflets about a missing God. After hearing his story, Jaggu devises a plan to expose Tapasvi and recover PK's remote.
Jaggu encourages thousands of people to send in videos of their own experiences with religious heads calling "wrong numbers". Finally, Tapasvi is forced to come into the studio and confront PK on-air. Tapasvi claims he has a direct connection to God and refers to his prediction of Sarfaraz's betrayal as proof. However, PK absorbs Jaggu's memories and discovers that Sarfaraz did not write the letter she received. Jaggu contacts the Pakistan Embassy in Belgium where Sarfaraz worked; the embassy tells her that Sarfaraz still loves her and calls them daily to inquire whether she has called. Jaggu and Sarfaraz reconnect and Tapasvi, exposed as a fraud, returns PK's device.
In the course of the film, PK falls in love with Jaggu but refrains from telling her because she loves Sarfaraz. He instead records tapes of her voice and fills his suitcases with batteries so that he can listen to the tapes on his home planet. While departing, he lies to Jaggu regarding the content of the tapes; Jaggu, despite knowing the truth, keeps quiet. She later publishes a book about PK and, at a book reading, claims that she misses him deeply.
The film ends with PK returning to Earth a year later on a new research mission with another alien (Ranbir Kapoor).

Lingaa 2014
Summary:
The movie revolves around a small village named Solaiyur and a dam that acts as its lifeline. The MP of the village, Nagabooshan (Jagapati Babu) has plans to destabilize the dam for his own selfish motives. A Government official who tested the dam's strength certifies that it has a very long life. Nagabhushanam kills the official who before dying, warns the village head to reopen the Temple to save the dam. Thus he decides to reopen the Temple which should be done by the legal heir of the dam's engineer Raja Lingeswaran (Rajnikanth). Nagabooshan accepts it to protect his goodwill in the constituency and his wish to marry the village head's granddaughter Lakshmi (Anushka) who works as a reporter in Public TV.
After a long search, Lakshmi finds out Lingeswaran's legal heir Lingaa (Rajnikanth), a petty thief who steals small jewellery along with his companions for a living. He also harbours a lot of resentment towards Lingeswaran because he left his successors penniless. One day, he decides to steal an emerald necklace on display at a star hotel along with his gang and he makes Lakshmi his unwilling accomplice. He does steal the necklace, but by the time he goes to the Merchant to get his share, the police come and arrest the Merchant. Thus, Lingaa is forced to run away from the city to escape the police hunting for him. Lakshmi comes into his life once again and convinces him to accompany her to Solaiyur.
There, Lingaa and his friends come to know from the village head that the Sivalingam is made of Marakathamani. Since it is a very costly one, Lingaa and his friends enter the Temple, open it and clean the premises, where Lingaa picks up the pen drive. Just when the village head along with Nagabooshan visit the Temple, Lingaa and his friends start worshiping the deity grandly and the village starts worshiping. That day was Mahasivaratri, the day when Lingeswaran was about to inaugurate this Temple. The village head then narrates the story of Lingeswaran to all including Lingaa and Lakshmi. Lingeswaran is the Maharaja of Kodiyur who on his father's request becomes a collector in the British Government during 1939 and also an civil engineer from Cambridge University which was his passion. He is posted to Solaiyur where he observes the water problems before coming to a conclusion that a dam must be built here. Also a village girl named Bharathi (Sonakshi Sinha) along with a local man Subbaiah assist him in gathering the information about the nearby villages.
He asks permission from British Government but the collector of Kochi has plans to place a railway track there. After a heated argument, Lingeswaran resigns from his post and decides to build the dam on his own. He obtains permission from the Governor and as a counterattack, the collector is transferred to Solaiyur. With the help of villagers, Lingeswaran succeeds in building the dam. Floods are coming and to save the dam, supporting equipment is necessary which Lingeswaran demands. He also asks the collector to pass the orders to give the lands occupied by the farmers by the British Government. The collector uses this as an advantage while his wife looks on. The collector asks Lingeswaran to pay 100 times the value and also to credit British Government as the one behind the dam's construction. He also puts a condition not to reveal anything to the villagers about this meeting. The next day, when Lingeswaran is paying the amount in the form of Gold, Silver and documents, he receives necessary cash, supporting equipment and documents along with an order restoring the lands to the villagers.
But the collector's men try to burn the order certificate while a traitor shows the scene of Lingeswaran giving the documents and receiving cash to the key villagers who supported him. Thus the notices of surrendering their lands to British Government are given to the villagers who are said that Lingeswaran joined hands with the British Government. The Siva Temple, which was built for the safety of the village and the dam is about to be inaugurated. Just in time, villagers come and demand Lingeswaran to vacate who is forced to leave Solaiyur. The Temple is closed permanently and Bharathi, who loved Lingeswaran, leaves the village along with him and his assistant Subbaiah's family. The village is saved from the floods this year and the dam stands strong. Here, the collector's wife reveals the truth and hands over the order of restoring the lands back to the villagers. The traitor commits suicide and the dam is acknowledged to be built by Lingeswaran by laying a foundation stone with his image.
The villagers find Lingeswaran living a poor man's life and ask him to forgive them. He does but does not accept to return to Solayur to reopen the Temple, as the dam and the Temple are signs of his achievements, which itself is enough to live. The Temple stood closed since then for about 70 years till date. Humbled by the legacy of Lingeswaran, Lingaa decides to redeem himself. He learns about Nagabooshan's evil designs and with the help of Lakshmi he exposes his true colors and saves the dam as well as the village. He leaves the village vowing to comeback after achieving something in life and unites with Lakshmi.

Hilaal attributes his imprisonment to his brother, Khurram. Roohdaar tells Haider that he simply wanted to pass on his father's message to him: revenge for Khurram's betrayal. Thereafter, angry and swearing to avenge his father's death, Haider becomes mentally and emotionally scattered and starts to behave and act strangely. His uncle Khurram, after getting to know about the meeting of Haider and Roohdar, narrates to him that Roohdar has killed his father. He is in dual mind as to whose narration he should believe. Unaware of Arshia's death, on seeing her brother in the graveyard it hits his mind that the body is of Arshi. He runs towards her body where his brother sees him and informs Khurram. A fight ensues between Haider and Arshia's brother resulting in Arshia's brother's death. Khurram arrives with full force and a gunfight ensues, meanwhile Roohdaar and Ghazala also arrive at the spot, where Roohdaar drops Ghazala. Ghazala kisses Haider, steps outside, only to reveal that she has been wearing a suicide vest. Khurram and Haider rush towards her but she pulls the pins of the hand grenade resulting in a big blast causing the death of the rest of the men and Khurram being gravely injured with his legs being amputated. Haider goes to his mother's remains, cries a lot and goes to Khurram in order to shoot him in the eyes as per his father's wish but is reminded of his mother's words "revenge only results in revenge" and thus decides to leave Khurram.
